Sterilisation of non-hazardous waste is usually achieved using conventional saturated steam cycles. Where pathogens are to be treated, design in the following additional safety measures to accommodate Category 1 to 3 hazards:
  1.   Initial air-removal is done through a 0.2µ filter.
  2.   All condensate is retained in the chamber until the end of the cycle; steam is injected through this condense to sterilise it along with the load.
  3.   At the end of the cycle additional interlocks only release the doors for opening if both the load and the retained condensate have been sterilised.
  4.   A wider safety margin is designed-in between the pressure vessel limits and the operating levels

In all other respects, Fedegari decontamination units are built to the same standards, with the same controls, as their saturated steam autoclaves.
